  2. Recommended external SSD for Sentry/Dashcam storage

    teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/recommended-external-ssd-for-sentry-dashcam...

Is anyone having success with "SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable External SSD" for Sentry / Dashcam storage for Model X? I know Samsung T5 is used and recommended by many folks here but I wonder how that performs as well given the fact it must likely have a bus power draw higher than 2W, which is supposedly the threshold Tesla set for Model X ...

From the Amazon reviews, the 128GB Samsung Bar Plus gets about 60-70 MB/s sequential writes brand new, the 64GB around 30-40 MB/s. The 128GB Sandisk High Endurance gets around 80-90 MB/s, but the important bit is the V30 rating, which means minimum speeds are 30 MB/s. Knightshade said:

The Tesla viewer (for Sentry Mode and Dash Cam video) can now format, read exFAT formatted devices. You may want to first format the SSD on your computer for exFAT, then create a folder on the SSD called "TeslaCam". You should then be good to go. 7. Extreme vs Extreme PRO SD Card - DJI Mavic, Air & Mini Drone...

    mavicpilots.com/threads/extreme-vs-extreme-pro-sd-card.53712

Dec 11, 2018. #5. they are basically the same card. they are both v30 rated cards, so that means they both have a absolute minimum write speed of 30MB/sec, which is all you care about. the whole "max write speed" of 40 on the extreme vs 90 on the pro is irrelevant, burst speeds are worthless on video recording.

    teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/1-tb-portable-hard-drive.236759

The SanDisk that is recommended is the Micro SD USB card reader and extreme memory card which is what I'm using but in a large size. The Costco SSD one may work fine, I haven't gone through all the specs, but the high spec drives / card are generally what's recommended for Tesla due to heat, volume of rewrites, and speed.
