It was redesignated as the 44th Lincoln and Welland Battalion of Infantry on 1 October 1897; as the 44th Lincoln and Welland Regiment on 8 May 1900; and following the Great War as The Lincoln and Welland Regiment on 1 May 1920. On 15 December 1936, it was amalgamated with the Lincoln Regiment and retained its designation. [1]
