Registered User. Mar 29, 2018. #1. I have a Seiko Sportsman watch that runs well, and the case is in good shape. However, the dial has scratches and marks on it. I know typically it is recommended that you don't have the dial refinished, but I think this is a case where it might be a good idea. I've included a photo.
Sep 3, 2021. #4. Some before and after photos will illustrate my concerns with dial refinishing. First, here are before and after pictures of the C.H. Meylan dial I referred to in my past post. Next are before and after photos of a dial I had refinished on an all aluminum Illinois 525 (one of three known examples), followed by a photo of the ...
Feb 7, 2002. #3. In my opinion, a broken dial with pieces out of it is a candidate for restoration if it is a rare dial and you really need it. I do not believe the result will be invisible and I am glad that is the case. The refinished dial should not be able to deceive.
The other half was the ability to make precise measurements of local refractive index on the dial and then create matching resins. If done commercially, it would probably cost about $25,000 per dial. I have not seen any other dial repairs that looked real although I am sure a domed plain dial without any sinks could easily be reproduced.
Registered User. May 17, 2012. #1. I'd like to share my recent experiences with International Dial Co. The average turnaround time for me has increased to over one month and the most recent was just over two months. The last few jobs that I sent them all came back with quality issues including bent dials, out-of-round dials, not refinished as ...
Dial refinishing cost $125. The first two examples are of metal dial refinishing. The third example shows the enamel dial restoration of an 18k Ed. Koehn minute repeater that had an unacceptably chipped and cracked dial (which my former watchmaker made considerably worse after I took the "before" photo shown below).
Re: Factory Or Refinished! A few tips how to identify if your dial has been refinishe I think it is unlikely refinished because all of the factory ink stamps look so pristine and intact, The factory stamps on the back are of two kinds, ink and paint, The ink stamps are removed with even the most mild of solvents and the stamps shown in the picture are of the ink variety and not paint, The dial ...
May 7, 2022. #3. I've used International Dial pretty recently. I think for your dials with applied markers they will do a good job. The markers are pulled off and then there's just printing, which they're good at. I don't bother emailing them anymore - they don't answer - I just mail a dial with a business card and they eventually get back to me.
Apr 6, 2015. #2. As Cartier used different makers for their movements through the years, finding an appropriate authentic replacement dial would be a difficult and expensive task. What would be more feasible and affordable would be to have the existing dial refinished to a pattern of your liking. While this will impact the originality if the ...
