Badminton has been played in the Philippines since the 1920s when British and American expatriates introduced the sport to the country. [3] The national team was formed after the establishment of the Philippine Badminton Association in 1952. The Philippines made a couple of appearances at the Sudirman Cup in the 2010s.
The country joined International Badminton Federation in 1950 but it was not until 1952 the country organized its association. [ 1 ] In December 2022, the PBAD announced it would be national ranking system the following year in conjunction with the return of the Philippine Badminton Open.

In 2022, under the coach of Rosman Razak, Bernardo returned to badminton and reestablished his partnership with Morada. Bernardo and Morada went onto win the 2022 Cameroon and also Benin International. [3] [4] They also finished as runners-up at the Vietnam International Series and the Bangladesh International.
Conrado Co married Pacita Uy, who was 1972 Miss Freshman of the UST College of Commerce. Pacita is also a badminton player and has played in competitive badminton winning at a doubles event in 1983 in a non-ranking national tournament. Conrado and Pacita has three children named Karen, Joseph Ryan and Theodore who are all badminton players. [2]
Philip Joper Escueta (born August 23, 1993) is a Filipino badminton player. [2] Escueta and his partner in men's doubles, Ronel Estanislao, won a bronze medal in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. [3] Escueta currently coaches the Philippines national badminton team.
Peter Gabriel Magnaye de Jesus (born 9 April 1992) is a Filipino badminton player. [1] He won the men's doubles title at the 2014 Swiss International tournament with Paul Jefferson Vivas, [2] and the mixed doubles title at the 2019 Sydney International with Thea Pomar.
