Asbury University has been known through the years for its history of great revivals. There have been several occasions when significant moves of the Holy Spirit have swept the campus and reached across the nation.
In honor of Asbury University’s upcoming 1970 Revival 50 th Anniversary Celebration, alumni are sharing stories and accounts from the 1970 Revival. This special event will be held on Asbury’s campus Feb. 2-3 and is open to the public.
On February 3, 1970, revival swept our campus and then our nation. 50 years later, in February 2020, we gathered to remember this significant and impactful outpouring that flooded across the nation. See below for recordings from this special anniversary event.
In February 2023, the Asbury community, along with tens of thousands of people from around the world, experienced something special in Wilmore — what many are calling a revival, an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and a move of God that is still shaping a generation of students and rewriting the story in so many lives.
The 1970 revival that overtook Asbury, and eventually spread to other college campuses and communities throughout the country, began as a typical chapel service. It ended some 185 hours later. Classes were canceled for the week.
