The academic director of Sri Chaitanya is Sushma Bopanna. It was founded in 1986 by B.S Rao and his wife, Jhansi Lakshmi Bai. With over 321 state board-affiliated junior colleges, 322 K-10 Sri Chaitanya Techno Schools and 107 CBSE-affiliated schools, [1] it is one of Asia's largest educational franchises with over 8.5 Lakh students. Her father, Dr BS Rao and her mother Dr Lakshmi Bai Rao, are the founders of Sri Chaitanya. [4] [5] She did her schooling from Atkinson School in Vijayawada. Bopanna has a BTech degree from Birla Institute of Technology (BITs) Pilani and a master's degree in IT from the United States. [6]
The college was established in 1956, for providing higher education to local students. Habra Siksha Parishad took initiative with the help of the then Chief Minister, late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy for the purpose. This project was given a proper shape by the Minister in the D.r Roy's Cabinet, Mr. Tarun Kanti Ghosh, who was also an MLA from Habra.
