Seibert Stadium, home of Bulldogs football team. Pete Hanna Stadium - Pete Hanna Stadium has been home to Samford's football team since 1958. Over the years, Seibert has seen some memorable football, including the Bobby Bowden era (1959–62), a one-loss season in 1971 and the Terry Bowden era, which ended with a 14-game Bulldog winning streak in the stadium.
The Samford Bulldogs college football team represents Samford University [A 1] as a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon). The Bulldogs competes as part of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. The program has had 36 head coaches, since it began play during the 1902 season.
The team was known as the Howard Bulldogs through the 1965 season when Howard College was renamed as Samford University. Howard was located in Birmingham, Alabama prior to 1957. Since 1958, the Bulldogs have played their home games at Pete Hanna Stadium , which now has a seating capacity of 6,700, in Homewood.
