Liberty Union High School District is a public school district based in northeastern Contra Costa County, California. The communities it serves include Brentwood, the majority of Oakley, a section of Antioch, the CDPs of Byron, Discovery Bay and Knightsen and Bethel Island. Freedom High School is located in Oakley, California, United States. It opened in 1996 on the grounds of Liberty High School, before moving to the new campus, as a part of the Liberty Union High School District. The current Liberty Union High School District contains Freedom, Liberty, Heritage, and Independence High Schools.
Prior to the CAHSEE, the high school exit exams in California were known as the High School Competency Exams and were developed by each district pursuant to California law. In 1999, California policy-makers voted to create the CAHSEE in order to have a state exam that was linked to the state’s new academic content standards. [4]

Xavier College Prep was established in 2006 with 48 freshman students. In 2009–2010 the first senior class had 60 graduates, all of whom went on to college. As of 2022, Xavier College Prep has over 576 students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade, and a student to teacher ratio of 10:1.
Summit Preparatory Charter High School also known as Summit Prep, is a college preparatory and charter high school that was founded in 2003. Summit Prep is the first school founded by the charter management organization (CMO) Summit Public Schools, which has eight schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and three in Washington state.
Mission Prep has sport programs for: football, cross country running, tennis, softball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, golf, swim and dive, track and field, and baseball. The school's mascot is the Royals. Mission Prep is frequently in the CIF playoffs, holding many banners for basketball, volleyball, soccer, and cross country running.
