The Susquehanna Regional Transportation Authority, (formerly Central Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (formerly York Adams Transportation Authority)), doing business as rabbittransit, is the mass transit service of York and Adams counties in Pennsylvania and oversees the transportation needs of Columbia, Cumberland, Franklin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder and Union counties.
The Cumberland-Dauphin-Harrisburg Transit Authority was formed in 1973 after the dissolution of the Harrisburg Railways Company.When that company ceased operations, the city of Harrisburg and Cumberland and Dauphin counties formed the authority to ensure mass transit services would continue to be available in the Harrisburg–Carlisle metropolitan statistical area.
The Gettysburg and Harrisburg Railroad (G. & H. R. R.) [2] was a railway line of Pennsylvania from Hunter's Run southward to Gettysburg in the 19th century. The north junction was with the South Mountain RR, [3] and a crossing with the Hanover Junction, Hanover and Gettysburg Railroad's westward extension was at Gettysburg.

Known to the Native Americans as "Peixtin", or "Paxtang", the area was an important resting place and crossroads for Native American traders with trails leading from the Delaware to the Ohio rivers and from the Potomac to the Upper Susquehanna intersecting there.
