The county has a total area of 2,082 square miles (5,390 km 2), of which 2,008 square miles (5,200 km 2) is land and 74 square miles (190 km 2) (3.5%) is water. [8] It is the fifth-largest county in North Dakota by total area. Dunn County is somewhat unusual among western North Dakota counties.

Halliday is a city in Dunn County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 241 at the 2020 census. [3] Halliday was founded in 1914. Halliday was originally two miles farther north. It moved in 1914 to be near the new Mandan to Killdeer railroad line. In 1900, the first post office was located on William Halliday's place. [5] [6]
