Deal Island Wildlife Management Area protects 13,565 acres (54.90 km 2) [1] in western Somerset County, Maryland near the community of Deal Island.As a wildlife management area, the area is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife and Heritage Service to conserve wildlife populations and their habitats, while providing public recreational use of wildlife resources.

Deal Island is a census-designated place (CDP) in Somerset County, Maryland, United States. The population was 375 [2] at the 2020 census. It is included in the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. The small town was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Deal Island Historic District in 2006. [3]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 18.3 square miles (47 km 2), of which 12.4 square miles (32 km 2) is land and 5.8 square miles (15 km 2) (31.91%) is water. Portions of Dames Quarter are located in the Deal Island Wildlife Management Area .
