State Highway 327 (SH 327) is a 8.006-mile (12.884 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Texas. The highway begins at a junction with U.S. Highway 69 (US 69) and US 287 south of Kountze and heads east to a junction with U.S. Highway 96 in Silsbee .
1300 was originally licensed to Hardin County Broadcasting, on December 31, 1959. The call sign assigned to the new station was KKAS and it was licensed to Silsbee, Texas at 500 watts. The KKAS studios were located at the transmitter site which (as the FCC described as) Highway 327, 3 miles west of the center of Silsbee.
Texas State Highway 327 runs through downtown Silsbee south of the city center, leading east to US 96 and west 9 miles (14 km) to Kountze, the Hardin county seat. According to the United States Census Bureau, Silsbee has a total area of 7.7 square miles (20.0 km 2), of which 0.04 square miles (0.1 km 2), or 0.64%, are water. [4]

The Texas State Highway system was established in 1917 to create a structured network of roads that would enhance connectivity and support economic development across the state. The initial system included 22 state highways, many of which followed pre-existing trails and trade routes.
Spur 327 originally opened to traffic on October 30, 1957, and its original routing has not changed since then. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) began upgrading it to a freeway in early 2015, with overhead signs placed in early August. [2] The freeway upgrade is part of phase 5A of the Marsha Sharp Freeway extension to Wolfforth. [3]
The section of US 62 in far west Texas, from El Paso to SH 54, was originally designated as SH 130. The highway was designated on January 18, 1928.
