His father, Heung Chin , founded the Sun Yee On in 1919. [ 2 ] The two became partners in the formation of Win's Entertainment Ltd. , however the partnership ended in 1992, as Charles felt that Jimmy's style of negotiating business too closely resembled that of a triad member.

Sun Yee was born in Zhejiang, China in 1919. She studied at the Xinhua Art Academy in Shanghai and the Nihon University in Tokyo. She then left for France, where she studied under painter, sculptor and filmmaker Fernand Léger. [1] While in Paris, she also studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. [2]
