TransEuropa Ferries was a freight and passenger ferry company operating between Ramsgate, Kent, UK and Ostend, West Flanders, Belgium from 1998 to 2013, with three or more ships. The company suspended operations on 18 April 2013, and on 25 April 2013 the line filed to initiate bankruptcy procedures.
Many of the assets were sold to Transeuropa Ferries which revived the route between Ramsgate and Ostend, first as a freight-only service, and subsequently taking passengers and cars. However, this itself closed in 2013 and since P&O Ferries closed their Hull-Zeebrugge service in 2021 there is currently no car ferry between the U.K. and Belgium.
The Port of Ostend (Dutch: Oostende) is situated in Ostend, West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium. The port services freight transport between Ostend and Ramsgate, Ipswich and North Killingholme Haven. Passenger transport between Ostend and Ramsgate was provided by Transeuropa Ferries from 1998 to 2013. [3]

As a result of this merger the vessels were again rebranded, this time the vessel was renamed to P&OSL Picardy. [2] In 2000 P&OSL Picardy was laid up pending sale, eventually being sold to Transeuropa Ferries. [2]
MS Pride of Calais was a cross-channel ferry owned and operated by P&O Ferries.She operated the Dover–Calais route between 1987 and 2012. In early 2013, under bareboat charter to Transeuropa Ferries, she served on their Ramsgate–Ostend route and was re-named MS Ostend Spirit.
In 1994 she was transferred to the Ostend Ramsgate route. [2] In 1998 she was bought by Denval Marine Consultants and renamed Eurovoyager. [3] She was chartered to Sally Line in the same year, but was only used for a few months as in November of the same year she was transferred to Transeuropa Ferries for use on their Ostend Ramsgate route. In October 2017, it was announced that Seaborne Freight would operate an Ostend - Ramsgate ro-ro freight ferry service from March using three ships, including the MS Nord Pas-de-Calais. [4] [7] The route was previously operated by Transeuropa Ferries until 2013 [7] when it filed for bankruptcy. [8]
