Eckerd College is a private liberal arts college in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. Founded in 1958, part of the campus is waterfront and beach on Boca Ciega Bay . Because of its location, Eckerd is considered a "beach school" [ 2 ] and has its own student volunteer maritime search and rescue team .
The Eckerd Tritons are composed of 14 teams representing Eckerd College in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, golf, sailing, soccer, and tennis. Men's sports include baseball.

Eckerd College Search and Rescue (EC-SAR) is a student volunteer maritime search and rescue team. EC-SAR provides its services free of charge to the St. Petersburg / Tampa Bay area of Florida, from its station on the Eckerd College campus. EC-SAR works alongside local EMS services and the United States Coast Guard.
In November 2019, Eastman announced that he would retire from his position. Eastman officially retired on June 30, 2020, having served the second-longest term of any Eckerd College president. [10] [11] Eastman was succeeded as president by Damián J. Fernández, the previous chancellor of Penn State Abington. [12]
