The fair was founded in 1858. The fair went on hiatus in 1917–18 & 1942–44, when the United States was engaged in World War I and World War II, respectively. In addition, crowd events were reduced in 1917-1918 because of the Spanish flu pandemic, which is estimated to have killed millions of people worldwide.
Visitors from 15 countries attend the Expo. Many of these go to the event to acquire purebred livestock semen and embryos to export from the United States. This makes the event attractive to American "seedstock producers". [1] The events are held at the Kentucky Exposition Center. The giant expo was established in 1974.
The Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum is a 5,000-seat [3] indoor arena in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, United States. [5] Built in 1951 on the grounds of the Minnesota State Fair, the venue hosts indoor events of the fair such as livestock shows, dog shows, equestrian and bull riding. [3]
