    I've seen it phrased the way I put it somewhere else but Lang's book divides the napkin into (N-1)^2 squares to give N^2 spikes each of length 1/(2(N-1)) and in the limit with thinning the perimeter is 2.N^2/(2(N-1)). I'm not sure that would really help but if you like I could stick that in instead.
