Goodrich High School is a 1A public high school located in Goodrich, Texas. It is a part of the Goodrich Independent School District that serves students in south central Polk County, Texas . In 2011, the school was rated " Academically Unacceptable " by the Texas Education Agency .
In 1994 the school had 350 students. [6]Prior to 1996 Alpine High School served as the high school for students from Terlingua Common School District. [7] Beginning in the 1960s, students were bussed to Alpine, [8] with the bus ride being the longest in the United States, [7] with 89.7 miles (144.4 km) of distance each way, totaling about one hour and 55 minutes. Kyler Elsworth graduated from Goodrich High School in 2009. In high school he was best known for wrestling. He won back to back Division 3 State titles in 2008 and 2009. He went on to be a line backer at Michigan State University where he was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2014 Rose Bowl.
