Demogorgon is a deity or demon associated with the underworld. Although often ascribed to Greek mythology , the name probably arises from an unknown copyist's misreading of a commentary by a fourth-century scholar, Lactantius Placidus .
She spends the majority of the first season hiding and running from the "bad men", meaning the lab workers. She helps the boys locate Will and fends off threats for them along the way. In the season one finale, she presumably dies after fighting the Demogorgon, though she actually survived and was sent to the Upside Down alongside the Demogorgon.
