Hiawatha is a city in Linn County, Iowa, United States. It is a suburb located in the northwestern side of Cedar Rapids and is part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Statistical Area . The population was 7,183 at the time of the 2020 census , an increase from 6,480 in 2000 .
Cedar Valley (Nature) Trail is a rail trail running 52 miles (84 km) from Hiawatha, Iowa to Waterloo, Iowa.. It runs through the counties of Linn, Benton, and Black Hawk.The southern 10 miles (16 km) [1] [2] as well as the northern 15 miles (24 km) [3] of the trail are paved with asphalt, with the remainder being lined with crushed limestone.
The routing was created as a result of construction of the Avenue of the Saints corridor through Iowa. The new Avenue of the Saints corridor took US 218/Iowa 27 and US 34 around the eastern and northern edges of Mount Pleasant. The Iowa 438 section of US 218 Bus. serves as a connector from southbound US 218/Iowa 27 to westbound US 34.
Iowa Highway 182 (Iowa 182) is a 9-mile-long (14 km) state highway in the northwestern corner of Iowa. It begins at U.S. Highway 18 (US 18) in Inwood and ends at Iowa 9 southeast of Larchwood. The highway has been in the primary highway system since 1930, when it was known as Iowa 26. On January 1, 1969, Iowa 26 and Iowa 182 swapped designations.
It was renovated several times between 1972 and 1989. Before the Cedar River flood in 2008 the building housed several county offices, including Linn County Community Services, Mental Health and Developmental Disability, General Assistance, Protective Payee and State of Iowa juvenile probation offices.
