John Hawkins Rountree (March 24, 1805 – June 27, 1890) was an American farmer, businessman, politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was the founder of Platteville, Wisconsin, and was instrumental in the early development of that village.
Rountree was born in Kentucky, came to Wisconsin in 1827 prospecting for lead, opened the first store and lead-smelting furnace in 1828, served in the Black Hawk War, platted Platteville, and did much to develop the area. Farm and Fleet is a 60 year old company with 33 locations...not exactly Wal-Mart but hardly a "mom and pop" store either. To question whether or not Farm and Fleet is worthy of a Wikipedia page is dramatically overstating the importance of Wikipedia (85% of the topics on Wikipedia are less important than Blain's Farm and Fleet).
