The Village at Totem Lake, formerly Totem Lake Mall, is a shopping center in Kirkland, Washington, United States. The center of Totem Lake Mall consisted of an enclosed shopping mall (Lower Mall), and an adjacent strip mall (Upper Mall). Collectively, the two centers were sometimes referred to as "Totem Lake Malls".
Kirkland consolidated with the neighboring town of Houghton on July 31, 1968, to form one city of 13,500. It annexed the neighborhood of Totem Lake in 1974, and the neighborhoods of South Juanita, North Rose Hill, and South Rose Hill in 1988, which were the largest annexations undertaken in Washington in nearly two decades.
Totem Lake is a two-acre (0.8 ha) lake in the northwest United States, located in Kirkland, Washington, a suburb east of Seattle, at the head of a branch of Juanita Creek, inside the Juanita Creek Basin. [3] [4] [5] A Kirkland neighborhood and retail/residential development are named for the lake.

The Joy's specialty was second-run or offbeat movies, and was known for many years for being one of the only theaters in the Portland Metro Area to play Bollywood films. [3] [1] In 2010, the theater was owned by Arif Amaani, a Seattle-based businessman who also ran a theater that showed primarily Indian films in Seattle. [4] [5] [6]
However, in 2008, the festival was back to being entirely in Seattle, and had a slight decrease in the number of feature films. The 2010 festival featured over 400 films, shown primarily in downtown Seattle and its nearby neighborhoods, and in Renton, Kirkland, and Juanita Beach Park. [3]
