Former BHMVA location on 00 Clay Street, Richmond. The Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia was founded by Carroll Anderson Sr. and opened to the public at 00 Clay Street in 1988, [1] [4] followed by a move in 2016 to 122 West Leigh Street. [5] It is in a two-story building, and spans 12,000 square feet in size. [6]

[1] [2] SR 33 passes through the town on 14th Street and has intersections with SR 296 (Kirby Street) and SR 298 (Lee Street) around its intersection with Main Street, where SR 30 turns north to become the main north–south highway of King William County. The Maggie Walker NHS is located north of downtown Richmond, in the city's historically black Jackson Ward neighborhood. It consists of six buildings on the north side of East Leigh Street, including 110 A E. Leigh Street, 112 E. Leigh Street, 114 East Leigh Street, 600 North 2nd Street, and 602 North 2nd Street. [6]
