Last November, SMCM started its 100-day countdown to their centennial day. The festivities are only a fun run and unveiling of the centennial flag. The Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers athletic teams represent Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. "The Mount" competes in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I athletics as a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). As the school grew in popularity and size, St. Mary's began admitting girls in September 1987. That same year, the school moved into a new building (the former location of Lakeway Collegiate & Vocational School or Sault Technical and Commercial High School) built in 1921 on Wellington Street.
