Fuchsia (/ ˈ f juː ʃ ə / FEW-shə) is a genus of flowering plants that consists mostly of shrubs or small trees.. Almost 110 species of Fuchsia are recognized; the vast majority are native to South America, but a few occur north through Central America to Mexico, and also several from New Zealand to Tahiti.
Notsung is unusual in producing its flowers and fruit, not from the tips of its branches like most flowering trees, but from its trunk, exhibiting what is known in botany as cauliflory. This characteristic is also found in other Southern African trees such as Stamvrug. The orange or purple flowers are rich in nectar and bi-sexual.
The flowers of Fuchsia triphylla are long and tubular. Flowers are generally a red-orange or red-purple color. They tend to droop over and have stamens that extend from the tip. As far as reproduction, this species produces a large amount of both flowers and seeds. Fuchsia triphylla use their appealing nature to their advantage in their life cycle.
Flowers are green when young, and turn bright red to pink to purple in colour and often emerge from the main stem. Flowers are solitary and pendulous. The four showy sepals tend to be 5–16 mm long. Filaments tending to range from 7–12 mm in length and purplish in colour. The flowers of Fuchsia excorticata are gynodioecious. [3]
Leaf blades cunate at the base, 3–4 cm long x 1.5–2 cm wide; pubescent on flora tube, young stems and leaves; flowers are red. [ 8 ] El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico (Chiapas) in montane rainforest, evergreen cloud forest, and wet pine-oak forest at elevations between 1,800–2,400 meters (5,900–7,900 feet).
