Wisconsin became the first state to have a state park in 1878 [1] when it formed "The State Park". The park consisted of 760 square miles (2,000 km 2) in northern Wisconsin (most of present-day Vilas County). [2] The state owned 50,631 acres (205 km 2), which was less than 10% of the total area. [2] There were few residents in the area.
The Octagon House Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1855. St. Croix County Courthouse. Several Native American burial mounds dated to the Middle or Late Woodland period have been found in what is now Birkmose Park in Hudson. [3]
The 10th Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin Senate. [1] Located in northwest Wisconsin , the district comprises all of Buffalo , Pepin , Pierce , and St. Croix counties, along with most of Trempealeau and parts of western Dunn County .
It also contains the University of Wisconsin–River Falls campus, Willow River State Park, and Kinnickinnic State Park. [2] The district is represented by Republican Shannon Zimmerman, since January 2017. [3] The 30th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 10th Senate district, along with the 28th and 29th Assembly districts. [4]
