Jefferson County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 44,492. [1] Its county seat is Brookville. [2] The county was established on March 26, 1804, from part of Lycoming County and later organized in 1830. [3] It is named after President Thomas Jefferson. [4]
The township is in southeastern Jefferson County, north of Punxsutawney and southwest of Reynoldsville. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 26.3 square miles (68.1 km 2), of which 0.03 square miles (0.09 km 2), or 0.13%, are water. [4]

The township is in southern Jefferson County and is bordered to the south by Indiana County.It is west of Punxsutawney.According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 28.7 square miles (74.4 km 2), of which 28.4 square miles (73.6 km 2) are land and 0.3 square miles (0.8 km 2), or 1.05%, are water. [4]
Porter Township is a township in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 299 at the 2020 census. [2] Porter Township was organized in 1840, and was named for Governor of Pennsylvania David R. Porter. [3]
As of the census [6] of 2000, there were 294 people, 111 households, and 80 families residing in the township. The population density was 9.6 people per square mile (3.7/km 2).
The township is in central Jefferson County and is bordered to the west by the borough of Brookville, the county seat. Interstate 80 passes through the township, with access from Exit 81 ( Pennsylvania Route 28 ) and Exit 86 ( Pennsylvania Route 830 ).
