Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) is a public community college in Cedar Bluff. It is part of the Virginia Community College System . SWCC was opened in 1968 to serve the residents of Buchanan , Russell and Tazewell counties, as well as portions of Dickenson County .

The service area of the school was expanded by 1995 legislation that divided West Virginia into eleven districts. Southern serves all of Boone, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mingo, and Wyoming counties. As of 2023, approximately 1,100 students are enrolled at the college and thirty-seven percent are part-time students. [ 5 ]

Trinity College of Arts and Sciences is the undergraduate liberal arts college of Duke University.Founded in 1838, it is the original school of the university. Currently, Trinity is one of five undergraduate degree programs at Duke, the others being the Edmund T. Pratt School of Engineering, Nicholas School of the Environment, School of Nursing, and Duke Kunshan University.
The school was created by Duke's Board of Trustees in 1939. It was named in 1999 following a $35 million gift by Edmund T. Pratt Jr., a 1947 graduate and former chief executive of Pfizer. [5] The Duke University Pratt School of Engineering celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2014–2015. [6]
The four schools have combined to win 71 men's conference tournaments with 21 SoCon tournaments and 50 ACC tournaments (UNC won 26, Duke won 24, NC State won 17, and Wake Forest won 5). While in the Southern Conference they won or shared 17 SoCon regular season titles between the 1922–23 and 1952–53 seasons.
