Kalisindh Dam is a concrete gravity dam across Kali Sindh River.It is situated near Jetpura village which is 16 km from Jhalawar, Rajasthan, India. [1] [2] It is built primarily for providing water for irrigation to nearby villages, control annual floods in Kali Sindh River and uplift water to storage of 1200 mcft water for Kalisindh Thermal Power Station.
Rajendra Singh (born 6 August 1959) is an Indian water conservationist and environmentalist from Alwar district, Rajasthan in India. Also known as "waterman of India", he won the Magsaysay Award in 2001 and Stockholm Water Prize in 2015.
The Bisalpur dam reservoir supplies irrigation water to the Sawai Madhopur and Tonk districts. It also supplies drinking water to the Ajmer , Jaipur and Tonk districts. [ 8 ] From Nasirabad in Ajmer district , the drinking water is also transported to the Bhilwara district via a 15-wagon train, which can carry 2.5 million litres of water.
The Banas drains a basin of 45,833 km 2, and lies entirely within Rajasthan. It drains the east slope of the central portion of the Aravalli Range, and the basin includes all or part of Ajmer , Bhilwara , Bundi , Chittorgarh , Dausa , Jaipur , Pali , Rajsamand , Sawai Madhopur , Sirohi , Tonk , and Udaipur districts. The system consists of 3 dams, 20 canal bunds, two small percolation tanks linked to the main tank and 19 village ponds. Water stored in the percolation tank, is strictly meant for domestic use. Piped water is supplied for an hour a day in the morning, during which families are expected to fill up water for drinking and cooking. [42]
