Does anyone know the cost of parking for cruises at port New Orleans? Are there any hotels in area that allow week-long parking free of charge w/one night stay? We were considering arrival one day early for NO sightseeing if there is a possible savings on parking for the cruise.
Tried this on the gulf coast board with no replies so thought I would try it here. Taking the Carnival Liberty out of New Orleans and wanted to hear opions of parking at the port vs. off site lots. Thanks.
Does anyone know the daily rate for the parking garage. We are on the Valor in November, and we are trying to decide between driving to new orleans or taking the train. Our hotel parking is $50.00 per night (2 nights pre) and if we drive, we will need a hotel both down and back.

We booked through the United Airport parking at the New Orleans port for rooftop for March 17 for a week. After you pay you get a receipt and the thing to display on the dash through email link. Looks like the parking is all subbed out to other entities other than the garage itself. Not exactly sure, but feel OK with the receipt I have.

They directed us to the far rear of the lot to get it changed to the right area ($20 per day) which in our case we were directed to park about 2-3 rows away from Convention Center Blvd. Apparently the correct way to enter is to drive along side the cruise terminal, cross the railroad tracks at Julia Street, turn right and enter from the back.
The Port of New Orleans offers two parking areas: The Erato Street Parking Garage for most vehicles (1,000 spaces) and the Poydras Street Lot for over-length vehicles (75 spaces). I need some general advice on parking in New Orleans. I have considered both the port parking and parking at a hotel. I walk with a cane and will be traveling with 2 girls, so we will definately need help with our luggage. I am looking for suggestions on the absolute easiest way to do parking, regardless of cost.
I have read some web pages (they might be old) that say "Parking is offered in the Erato St. garage, adjacent to the Julia St. Cruise Terminal." But I have also read that parking to Julia St terminal is also an uncovered open type lot near the terminal. The only open lot I see nearby is the one highlighted in this picture.
