The Appraisal District sets the value of your property each year. The appraisal process has four stages: valuing the taxable property, protesting the values, adopting the tax rates, and collecting the taxes.

The Board of Directors oversees the activities of the Appraisal District. They do not appraise property or make decisions that affect the appraisal records; instead, they select the Chief Appraiser, adopt the budget, and make sure the District follows policies and procedures set by law.
The Appraisal District uses mass appraisal techniques to appraise the 150,000+ parcels of property within its jurisdiction. In mass appraisal, the Appraisal District first collects detailed descriptions of each taxable property in the District.
