Kinect is a discontinued line of motion sensing input devices produced by Microsoft and first released in 2010. The devices generally contain RGB cameras, and infrared projectors and detectors that map depth through either structured light or time of flight calculations, which can in turn be used to perform real-time gesture recognition and body skeletal detection, among other capabilities.
In response to the shortcomings of human guards to watch surveillance monitors long-term, the first solution was to add motion detectors to cameras. It was reasoned that an intruder's or perpetrator's motion would send an alert to the remote monitoring officer obviating the need for constant human vigilance.
A motion detector attached to an outdoor, automatic light. A motion detector is an electrical device that utilizes a sensor to detect nearby motion (motion detection).Such a device is often integrated as a component of a system that automatically performs a task or alerts a user of motion in an area.
The CMOS image sensor worked with the visible video sensor to enable the depth map provided by PrimeSense SoC's Carmine (PS1080) and Capri (PS1200) to be merged with the color image. The SoCs performed a registration process so the color image (RGB) and depth (D) information was aligned properly. [ 7 ]
Egomotion estimation is used to determine the location of a camera by analyzing its output signal. Motion detection: Motion detection is used to determine the presence of relevant motion in the observed scene. Shape recognition: Shape recognition is used to recognize shapes in the input video, for example circles or squares.
The Wii MotionPlus was developed by Nintendo in collaboration with game development tool company AiLive. [6] The sensor used is an InvenSense IDG-600 [7] or IDG-650 in later units, designed in accordance to Nintendo's specification; [8] [9] with a high dynamic range, high mechanical shock tolerance, high temperature and humidity resistance, and small physical size.
A passive infrared sensor (PIR sensor) is an electronic sensor that measures infrared (IR) light radiating from objects in its field of view. They are most often used in PIR-based motion detectors . PIR sensors are commonly used in security alarms and automatic lighting applications.
For example, the motion detector can be paired with the gateway to perform functions such as switching on a light at night when it detects motion; the window sensors can start or stop a connected fan as windows are closed or opened; in another example, users can set the gateway into an alert mode with their smartphones as they leave the house ...
