Anorthosis Famagusta Volleyball, known as Anorthosis Volley for short, is the volleyball team of Anorthosis Famagusta, temporarily based in Limassol. Founded in 1928, it is one of the oldest volleyball clubs in Cyprus. Anorthosis have the most title wins in Cyprus, with 21 Cypriot Championship titles and 16 Cypriot Cup titles.
The women's volleyball team of Anorthosis was established in the club's home town of Famagusta and was the first women's volleyball team on the island. After the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, Famagusta's residents were forced to leave the city and move elsewhere in Cyprus.
The Cypriot Women's Volleyball National Division is the major volleyball national competition for women in Cyprus, established in 1975. [1] It is organised by the Cyprus Volleyball Federation (Kypriaki Omospondia Petosfairisis-KOP).
In their first inning in Cyprus Volleyball Division 1 finished in second place. The same position occupied in 1981 and 1983. In 1981 lost the championship to the difference set. [4] In 1983 won the first cup final in winning Anorthosis 3–1. It was the first final the volleyball team participated and the first trophy in club-level men.
