One Big Horn I am looking at has a towing capacity of 9726. The Laramie that I like better has a towing capacity of 8276. I cannot figure out the mechanical differences. Both are 4x4, same cab, and same bed length. The only difference I can make out is that the Big Horn has a trailer brake controller and the Laramie doesn't.

The spec's for my 2020 finally hit the Mopar owners site & I thought I would share them here as some general information for those that might want to know. The truck is a 2020 1500 Longhorn, CC, 4x4, 5'7" box, ecodiesel, 20" wheels, 3.92 limited slip, air-ride, 33 gallon fuel tank, spilt tailgate. Payload = 1267lbs. Towing = 9667lbs.

The 2020 rides much better. Very solid feel.

It also says towing is 7760kg or about 17,000lb! Again, I'm pretty sure 7760lb is more accurate. You can also go to your local RAM dealer and request a new sticker. Imagine 23XLE GVRW Is 7,000#, 500 lighter than the AF 22G that @biodiesel and I tow. I just towed over several 9400' passes OK.
I looked up the GCVR (what it can tow including the weight of the loaded vehicle) and it’s 13,700 which leaves me only 6400lbs. Of towing capacity for my 6200 lb. dry weight trailer. I’m moving on from a 2002 Chevy Suburban with 3:73s. (270hp, 321ft. Lbs of torque).
With the exception being acceleration. The 3.92 truck will always be quicker. And well Ram generally rates the 3.92 to tow more than the same truck 3.21. Back to the max load. Where the 3.21 truck would have to divide the work or acceleration with 5 gears and hold say 65 mph with 6 gear.

VernDiesel. The suspensions are soft but otherwise the 1500s are great to tow to 8k maybe a little better with good WDH and setup. (ED or Hemi my QC ED rating was 8,800) Even over mountain grades with lower gear sets and TBC. Heavy tongue and or bed loads (800 pounds plus) benefit from air bags such Timber Groves.
