The botanical garden was founded in 1877, by the decree of the Ministry of Education of Austria-Hungary and was implemented by the city magistrate. The creation of the garden lasted eleven years and was headed by an Austrian professor Eduard Tangl [], who was the head of the Department of Botany at Chernivtsi University.
The university has almost 1,100 computers. The university has an Academic Palace with 700 seats, which provides excellent conditions for holding diverse student evenings, art events, creative meetings, and classes in amateur art circles. The university has a historical and medical museum, which is located in the building of the Academic Palace.
