Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP) is a 3,935-acre (15.92 km 2) U.S. government-owned, contractor-operated facility in northeastern Independence, Missouri. It produces ammunition for military and personal rifles. Lake City was established by Remington Arms in 1941 to manufacture and test small caliber ammunition for the U.S. Army.
During the Vietnam War in the early 1970s (July, 1970 to January, 1972) the Lake City Ordnance Plant (contractor code: LC) and Frankfort Arsenal (contractor code: FA) produced unmarked Boxer-primed 7.62×39mm Blank and Ball cartridges for use by American and Allied personnel.

In 2007 SCAAP were the recipient of the Army Materiel Command (AMC)) Superior Unit Award with many of the other Army Ammunition Plants and Ammunition Depots. [7] In 2012 SCAAP Received a second AMC Superior Unit Award.
