Slug Catcher is the name of a unit in the gas refinery or petroleum industry in which slugs at the outlet of pipelines are collected or caught. A slug is a large quantity of a liquid that exists in a multi-phase pipeline.
A slug catcher is a type of vapor–liquid separator that is able to receive a large inflow of liquid at random times. It is usually found at the end of gas pipelines where condensate may be present as slugs of liquid.
A pig receiver and slug catcher. Vapour from the slug catcher is cooled and chilled in a gas-to-gas heat exchanger, then by a refrigerant system, and a Joule-Thomson pressure reduction valve before the, now two-phase, mixture passes to a separator.
Gas from the Suction Manifold was routed to the Suction Slug Catcher where liquids were removed. Gas flowed successively to the LP Suction Scrubber, the First Stage Gas Compressor and the Intercooler. Here it was comingled with gas from the Interstage Manifold which had flowed through the Interstage Slug Catcher.
Fluid was first routed to a horizontal Slug Catcher vessel which allowed slugs of liquid formed in the flowlines to be retained and fed forward at a steady controlled rate. The oil from the Slug Catcher was heated and routed to the horizontal 3-phase (oil, gas and produced water) First Stage Separator. Gas from the Slug Catcher was also routed ...
Fluids from the satellite platforms (ST2 and ST3) are exported to the central complex. Upon arrival they are routed to a slug catcher, gas is routed to the inlet of the appropriate Glycol Contactor. Liquids are routed to the Condensate Separator and then the Condensate Coalescer prior to export through the gas pipeline. [10]
By record, this was the worst division in baseball last season. The American League West, which boasted both ALCS teams in 2023, finished with a combined record 43 games under .500 in 2024.
Onshore gas terminals may have facilities for removal of liquids from the incoming gas stream. Liquids may include natural gas liquids (NGL), produced water, and glycol (MEG or TEG). Separation of liquid from gas is done in slug catchers, which either comprise an array of pipes or a large cylindrical vessel. A variety of treatment processes are ...
