Graham Lake in Hancock County, Maine is a eutrophic reservoir formed by the construction of a hydro-electric power dam in 1922 four miles (6 km) upstream from Ellsworth, Maine. The first dam was a hastily built earthen dam built by the Bangor Hydro Electric Company.
Boat launching facilities are available for public use at the dam and at the north end of the eastern arm 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Maine State Route 163. [2] The eastern shore of the eastern arm is a 16,700-acre (6,800 ha) reserve of public land available for fishing, hunting, birding and camping.
Despite both species being considered invasive in Maine, many anglers flock to Cobbosseecontee each season to hunt down these aggressive predators. There are also many other types of popular fish that can be found in the lake, including brook trout, brown trout, rainbow smelt, white perch, yellow perch, bullheads, sunfish and crappie.
