The Taunton Silverplate Company, also known as the Taunton Silver Plate Company, was an American manufacturing company active in Taunton, Massachusetts from 1853 to 1859. Some form of the company was reconstituted c. 1872-1874 with its showroom at 4 Maiden Lane, New York City , with Oliver Ames [ a ] as president and George T. Atwood as treasurer.
Reed & Barton was chosen to design and produce the official gold, silver, and bronze medals for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, [6] of which there are samples on display at the Old Colony History Museum in Taunton. The company's products are used at the White House in Washington, D.C.
They were manufacturers of pewterware, electroplated Britannia metal, silverware and electroplated nickel silver.
