A vacuum hose connected to the intake manifold downstream of the throttle provides a reference pressure for the blowoff valve.. When the throttle is open, the air pressure on both sides of the blowoff valve's piston is equal, therefore the spring holds the valve closed.

The Toyota GR engine family is a gasoline, open-deck, piston V6 engine series. The GR series has a 60° die-cast aluminium block and aluminium DOHC cylinder heads.This engine series also features 4 valves per cylinder, forged steel connecting rods and crankshaft, one-piece cast camshafts, a timing chain, [1] and a cast aluminium lower intake manifold.
The 2S is a 2.0 L (1,995 cc) four-cylinder engine with an iron block and an alloy head. Bore and stroke are 84.0 x 90.0 mm. [2] This was to be the last of the S engine family not to be equipped with double overhead camshafts. The 2S (with no extra letters at the end) is carburetted.
A pressure wave supercharger (also known as a wave rotor [1]) is a type of supercharger technology that harnesses the pressure waves produced by an internal combustion engine exhaust gas pulses to compress the intake air. Its automotive use is not widespread; the most widely used example is the Comprex, developed by Brown Boveri. [2] [3] [4]
The first generation variant of the 4A-GZE from the Toyota MR2 Supercharged. Note the roots type supercharger on the intake side. The 4A-GZE, 1G-GZE and 2TZ-FZE were the only factory supercharged engines manufactured by Toyota. The 4A-GZE was a supercharged version of the 4A-GE produced in various forms from August 1986 through 1995.
