Weingart Stadium (formerly East Los Angeles College Stadium [2] or ELAC Stadium) is a 22,355-capacity multi-purpose stadium located at East Los Angeles College, in Monterey Park, California. It was built in 1951 at a cost of $3.1 million, and following renovations in 1984 it was renamed after philanthropist Ben Weingart .
It is the home stadium to a number of local area high school football teams, as well as Long Beach City College's football team. [1] It was also home to Long Beach State's football team until the program disbanded in 1991. [2] The Los Angeles Force use the stadium for soccer matches.
The East LA Classic, or East Los Angeles Classic ('The Classic') is the homecoming football game for both James A. Garfield High School and Theodore Roosevelt High School. It is known as the East L.A. classic, because the two schools were among the first schools to be established in the East Los Angeles area.
