TARC is a college whilst UTAR is a university. It is entirely different schools. However they are being treated as sister institutions as both was founded by the Malaysian Chinese Association. The principal of TARC was moved to head UTAR when UTAR was established. There's also mutual recognitions of the programmes offered by both insitutions.
