Monticello High School (MHS) is a suburban public high school located in Albemarle County, Virginia, United States outside Charlottesville. Opened in 1998, it is one of three traditional comprehensive high schools in the Albemarle County Public Schools System. The school is named after Monticello, the nearby estate of President Thomas Jefferson.
In 2017 the Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake (MAML) Moose hockey team made a surprise run in the Class A state championship game. The Moose became the first unseeded team to beat the two seed in the quarterfinals defeating Delano 3-2. In the semi-finals the Moose defeated Northfield 3-2 to advance to the schools first ever championship game.

Wayne County School District (WCSD) is a school district headquartered in Monticello, Kentucky. [2] It serves Wayne County. On June 30, 2013 Monticello Independent Schools closed and was merged into Wayne County Schools. [3]
From 1870 onward, the district was settled by new residents of Monticello; many of them came from Ohio, particularly Pickaway County. These residents and their families tended to occupy their new houses for a long time; in one case, the Coleman family and the McIntosh family occupied the house at 404 South Charter for a combined 130 years.
