The Stearns County Courthouse is the seat of government for Stearns County in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States. The Beaux-Arts style building was constructed in 1921 to replace Stearns County's original 1864 courthouse. [2] It stands in a prominent square in downtown St. Cloud, flanked by other government buildings.
The population was 68,881 at the 2020 census, [4] making it Minnesota's 12th-largest city. St. Cloud is the county seat of Stearns County [6] and was named after the city of Saint-Cloud, France (in Île-de-France, near Paris), which was named after the 6th-century French monk Clodoald.
[6] [7] Workforce Center, a business that dealt with unemployed residens of St. Cloud, Minnesota, was a tenant of Midtown Square Mall until the early 2010s when it closed. [ 4 ] An event center located within the mall, called Tuscan Center, opened in April 2013, filling a large vacancy within the mall. [ 8 ]

The St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, consists of two counties in central Minnesota, anchored by the city of St. Cloud. In the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 201,093; a July 1, 2012, Census Bureau estimate placed the population at 190,014. [1]
