Velika Kladuša [1] (Serbian Cyrillic: Велика Кладуша, pronounced [ʋêlikaː klǎduʃa]; lit. "Great Kladuša") is a town in Bosnia. It is situated in the far northwest of Bosnia, located on the border with Croatia.
The Velika Kladuša Castle is first mentioned in historical sources in 1280 under King Ladislaus IV of Hungary. The castle was the property of the Babonići/Blagajski, and later it was the property of the Dukes of Kladuša. It fell into the hands of Frankopans of Cetin in 1465. The castle is first mentioned in written sources in 1264, in a charter issued by Hungarian king Bela IV, who as a token of his gratitude, gifted the feudal lands of Topusko, Podzvizd and Vrnograč to Brothers Kreščić.
