I've used Apple Watch for years to track distance hiking, walking, running, etc. I recently took up golf, and enjoy walking the course for exercise and serenity :) There is a golf workout in Fitness / Workout. The workout app records heart rate, calories burned, etc. but does not appear to record distance. What gives? p.s.

Someone had asked in this forum if the Golflogix golf app allowed the Apple Watch to give GPS location independently of the phone, which is often sitting in the golf cart away from the ball location. My wife uses Golflogix and I can assure you that any GPS data show on the watch is the phone location. It is NOT independent.

To add golf, or another workout not listed on you iWatch, go to the Health app (white tile with red heart), type “workout” in search bar, then select “workout”. Click on + in upper right hand corner of your screen & select Golf, or whatever other workout you want, from the scrolling options at the bottom of your screen.
Keep in mind also that, if you do not choose to record a particular exercise activity via the Workout app, the Activity app will still run continuously in the background, tracking progress towards your daily Exercise, Move and Stand goals. I asked the same question of Golfshot (Shotzoom ) support and received this reply: "Yes, to obtain all the features for the Apple Watch you will need to upgrade to the pro membership. Yes, Golfshot is compatible with the new Apple Watch series 2. Golfshot will utilize the GPS on the watch but the app won't work natively on the watch.
