The Marianna Fault is a fault located in the Crowley's Ridge area west of Marianna in eastern Arkansas. [citation needed] The discovery was first announced by seismologists on January 21, 2009. It is separate from the New Madrid seismic zone, [1] which is 100 kilometers (62 mi) to the east. [2]
