Mair Eluned Morgan, Baroness Morgan of Ely, PC (born 16 February 1967), is a Welsh Labour politician who has served as First Minister of Wales and Leader of Welsh Labour since 2024. [1] Morgan is the first woman to hold the office of First Minister of Wales. [2] As well as the first member of the House of Lords to serve as First Minister of Wales.

Eluned Morgan was nominated and appointed to succeed Vaughan Gething as first minister of Wales on 6 August 2024. Later that day, she announced the appointment of Huw Irranca-Davies as her deputy first minister. [1] This was the first time a deputy first minister had been appointed to the Welsh Government since Ieuan Wyn Jones in 2007. [2]
