The Rexburg Idaho Temple is the 125th operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The intent to build the temple was announced by the First Presidency on December 12, 2003, in a letter to local church leaders. [1] The temple was the third in Idaho, and the first in the state in the 21st century. [2]

At the April 1995 general conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), church president Gordon B. Hinckley announced the creation of a new leadership position known as the area authority. [1] In 1997, area authorities were renamed area authority seventies and ordained to the office of seventy.
This high pace of announcement continued and by October 2022, the number of temples exceeded 300 temples announced, with 315. With 17 temples announced at the October 2024 General Conference, the church's total number of temples operating, under construction, or announced reached 367.
The Rexburg Stake Tabernacle, also known as the Fremont Stake Tabernacle is a building located in Rexburg, Idaho that formerly served as tabernacle for large gatherings of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The tabernacle was designed by architect Otto Erlandsen and completed in 1911 at a cost of $31,000. [3]
