Bŭlgarskata pesen v „Evroviziya 2012” (The Bulgarian song in Eurovision 2012) was the national final format developed by BNT which determined the artist and song that would represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. [4] The competition consisted of a semi-final on 14 January 2012 and a final on 29 February 2012.

It took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, following the country's victory at the 2011 contest with the song "Running Scared" by Ell and Nikki. It was the first time Azerbaijan hosted the contest – only four years after the country made its debut.
The Bulgarian National Television (BNT) is a full member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1 January 1993, thus eligible to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest since then. It has participated in the contest representing Bulgaria since its 50th edition in 2005.

Prior to the 2012 contest, Slovenia had participated in the Eurovision Song Contest seventeen times since its first entry in 1993. Following the release of the full split voting by the EBU after the conclusion of the competition, it was revealed that the Bulgaria had placed fourteenth with the public televote and twelfth with the jury vote in the second semi-final.
